Warren County Department of Parks and Recreation oversees numerous parks, boat launches, trails and other recreational sites around beautiful Warren County.
Our department is based on the grounds of Warren County Fish Hatchery, a wonderful facility in the town of Warrensburg that includes a hatchery that is open for public views as well as a visitor center, trails, a pavilion and a new disc golf course! We also work closely with the staff of Up Yonda Farm, a beautiful environmental center in the town of Bolton with trails, gardens and much, much more.
In addition, we oversee Warren County Bikeway, a 9.4-mile long paved rail trail that runs from the city of Glens Falls to the village of Lake George, and connects to the Feeder Canal Trail in Glens Falls. This connection allows access to the Empire State Trail.
Our newest offering for hikers is the trail to Swede Mountain Firetower in Hague, a 1.8-mile out-and-back trail to a refurbished firetower that offers fantastic views west and north into the heart of the Adirondacks. (Please note it will close for hunting season September 8, 2023 and re-open December 15 during big-game season.)
For an easier jaunt, our trails along the Hudson River off Hudson Street in Warrensburg provide great opportunities for exploration of a pine forest along the Hudson River.
For those who enjoy paddling, Warren County Parks and Recreation offers 15 canoe/kayak access sites on the Hudson and Schroon rivers, which you can explore on this interactive map. In addition, the Warren County Rec Mapper website provides details about county facilities and recreational sites operated by other entities around the county.
